Watermelon ''Charleston Gray''.
Mid-early (ripens in the second half of August), high-yielding variety, vegetation period 75-85 days. The plant is medium-sized. The fruits are elongated-cylindrical, weighing 12-18 kg, light green in color with a dark green mesh. The pulp is dense, crispy, rich red in color, with a high sugar content. Seeds are small, dark brown. Resistant to anthracnose and fusarium. High transportability and keeping quality. Due to the light color, the fruits do not heat up in the sun and stay cool longer even on the hottest day.
Sowing seedlings in early May. Planting seedlings in open ground in late May - early June (30-35 days after germination, in the phase of 3-4 true leaves). Planting pattern 100x100 cm. In the southern regions, it can be grown by direct sowing in the ground in April-May. When grown under film shelters, plants are formed into one stem (all lateral shoots are removed up to a height of 50 cm, the next ones are pinched over 1-3 leaves), tied to a trellis (fruits must be hung in nets). It is possible to grow in free culture in spreading.
1,0 g = 10-20 seeds.
